Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-21
Plain-language summary. TransitEU does not have user accounts, does not track you, does not show ads, and does not store any of your data on a server. Your favourite stops and settings live on your device only. When you look up a departure, your iPhone talks to a transit provider via our proxy over HTTPS. The provider sees an IP address and the stop you asked about — nothing else.
This Privacy Policy describes how TransitEU ("we", "us", "the App") handles information when you use the TransitEU iOS application and its widgets. TransitEU is operated by Måns Nödtveidt (the "Operator"), based in Sweden. Contact: support@transiteu.app.
1. Data we collect on your device
The App stores the following information locally on your iPhone only using UserDefaults and the App Group container:
- Your favourite stop list.
- Your widget theme preference.
- Your Auto Mode schedule (time → stop mapping).
- App preferences (refresh interval, haptics on/off, preferred language, appearance).
- Onboarding-completed flag.
- Anonymous in-app purchase / subscription receipt managed by Apple.
We do not collect, copy, or transmit any of this information to our servers.
2. Data sent to transit providers
To answer "when is my next departure?", the App contacts public transit data providers over HTTPS via our proxy api.transiteu.app. We currently use the following providers:
| Provider | Country | Data sent |
|---|---|---|
| Trafiklab ResRobot | Sweden | Search query / stop ID |
| Transport for London | United Kingdom | Search query / stop ID |
| VBB | Germany | Search query / stop ID |
| MVG | Germany | Search query / global stop ID |
| Wiener Linien OGD | Austria | Stop DIVA ID |
| OpenTransportData | Switzerland | Search query / station ID |
Each of these providers will see an IP address (our proxy's, not yours) and the textual content of your query. They do not receive your name, email, Apple ID, or device identifier from us.
3. Subscription transactions
Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple via StoreKit 2. Apple receives your purchase information per their Privacy Policy. We receive only an anonymous receipt indicating that your subscription is active. We do not see your name, email, address, or payment method.
4. Tracking and analytics
TransitEU contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, no crash reporting beyond Apple's own, and does not use the IDFA. The App's Privacy Manifest declares NSPrivacyTracking = false.
5. Children
TransitEU is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any data from children, in line with Article 8 GDPR.
6. Your GDPR rights
Because we do not store personal data about you on a server, most GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction, objection) do not apply to data we hold — we hold nothing. Where any rights apply (e.g. against transit providers), please contact the provider directly. You may at any time delete all locally stored data by deleting the App from your device.
7. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via the App and via the version history on this page.
